'Impeach Obama' Message Displayed On Alaska Construction Signs By Hackers

Hackers Replace DOT Construction Sign Message With One Of Their Own

Drivers are used to seeing warnings of road closures, repairs and other notifications on electronic construction signs dotting the nation's highways. But this week, motorists around Anchorage saw a different message: "Impeach Obama."

According to the Alaska Department of Transportation, pranksters hacked into several of the construction signs on late Wednesday night or early Thursday morning and put up the anti-President Obama message.

According to KTUU, DOT "doesn't lock the boxes on the signs that hold the message control pad" -- although it will now.

“I'm sure somebody thought it was a pretty funny joke but we try to convey a lot of important information with these signs,” said Tim Croghan, a regional construction engineer for DOT.

The person or persons who tampered with the construction signs could face charges of criminal mischief.
