'Amazing Spider-Man' Swinging Toward $60 Million Weekend

"The Amazing Spider-Man" is swinging toward another big weekend at the box office. According to Sony, the webslinger reboot starring Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone took in an estimated $20.7 million on Fri., July 6.

This weekend Spidey is expected to pull in between $60-65 million, pushing its total domestic box office earnings toward $135-140 million. According to Box Office Mojo, "The Amazing Spider-Man" has earned close to $146 million worldwide. Its opening day earnings -- about $35 million on Tues., July 3 -- set a record for a Tuesday opening. On Wed., July 4 the film pulled in $23 million.

"The Amazing Spider-Man" faces competition from Oliver Stone's "Savages" and Katy Perry's 3D flick "Part of Me." Perry's concert documentary film opened on July 5 to $3.1 million, according to The Hollywood Reporter. THR reports "Savages" pulled in $4-5 million on Friday. The movie starring Salma Hayek, John Travolta and Blake Lively is likely to make between $11-15 million this weekend.
