Cicero Woman Charged With DUI In Fatal Rollover Crash

Riverside police have made an arrest in connection with a rollover crash from December 2011 that left a 26-year-old Woodridge man dead.

Magali Padilla, 24, of Cicero has been charged with one count of reckless homicide and one count of aggravated driving under the influence in alcohol causing a death in the crash that took place at 11:43 p.m. on December 7, 2011, according to a release from the Riverside Police Department.

According to the release, video found after months of research by Riverside investigators shows that Padilla was driving the car as it left a Riverside restaurant that evening, indicating that Ramirez, who was killed in the crash, was a passenger at the time.

Riverside Police Chief Thomas Weitzel said the new evidence was integral to the case.

“The persistent follow-up investigation conducted by Riverside investigators certainly played a major role in bringing this case to successful conclusion,” Chief Weitzel said in the release.

Padilla will face a bond hearing at the Cook County Courthouse on Sunday.
