Matthew Evans Kick: Beach Soccer Player Scores Own Goal, Gets Carded For Kick (VIDEO)

WATCH: Beach Soccer FAIL

Just because a sport is played at the beach doesn't necessarily mean that it's a.. day at the beach.

Matthew Evans of England's beach soccer team got a quick reminder of that when he was credited with scoring past his own goalkeeper in a recent match against Belarus. After unintentionally redirecting a strike into his own net, Evens let out his frustration on the ball with a kick. The ball, however, found the back of a Belarus player's head, sending him into the sand and earning Evans a yellow card.

Although Evans was presumably embarrassed by his flub, he can take comfort in the fact that the stands were not filled to witness it. Trust us, it could have been much, much worse. Just ask Leo Ponzio.
