Captain Nicole Galassini offered the episode's most poignant and challenging scenes on this week's installment of "Army Wives" (Sun., 10 p.m. ET on Lifetime), as well as a fun mini-reunion for long-time fans of star Kellie Martin.
Twenty years ago, Martin starred on the series "Life Goes On" alongside her on-screen mother, played by Patti LuPone. So what a treat it was for viewers when LuPone showed up again playing Martin's mother.
This time, she was there struggling to come to terms with the fact that Nicole has not only come out as a lesbian, but is getting married as well.
"I had these dreams for you," she lamented. But Nicole just wanted to know why her mother couldn't support her and be there for her.
"The army understands, why can’t you?” Nicole asked. It may have taken LuPone's character awhile to come to terms with everything, but in the end she did stand by her daughter.
Watch "Army Wives" every Sunday at 10 p.m. ET on Lifetime.
