A California man allegedly got naked and went on a bloody rampage at a hotel on Saturday, killing a 62-year-old woman at random.
Stephen Andrew Carreiro, 25, was arrested after another Hacienda Inn patron in Tracy found him naked, covered in blood and standing over the woman's body. The victim, identified by CBS 13 only as a hotel caretaker, died a short time later at the hospital.
"Most definitely the craziest thing I’ve seen in my life, most definitely," witness Jermaine Haynes told the station. "He was on like cloud 20. I don’t know what he was on, but he was on something though."
Haynes said that Carreiro knocked on his hotel door at about 7 p.m., acting weird and trying to sell candy. When Haynes turned him away, Carreiro allegedly started breaking windows at the hotel. Minutes later, Haynes heard all hell break loose in a management apartment.
He and a group of other guests broke into the apartment, and couldn't believe their eyes.
"The lady was like half naked, and he was butt-naked, blood all over him. It was crazy man," Haynes said.
The Tracy Press reported that the guests held Carreiro down until police arrived. He was allegedly combative and it took officers 20 minutes to subdue him.
The nature of the woman's injuries weren't immediately clear. Carreiro may have sustained a broken arm and a wounded foot during the melee, according to the Tracy Press.
Carreiro was charged with murder and held without bail until his next court date on July 10.
