Some US states have something everyone agrees they're shaped like. How many times have you heard someone from Michigan tell you they're from "the mitten"? But other ones are a little tougher to see. All of those rectangle states out West look like, well, rectangles.
Luckily web comic xkcd came up with an entire map of ideas for people to work with. So instead of saying you're from Alaska, you can now say you're from the state shaped like a bear with a jet pack holding a laser.
