USA TODAY Names New Editor-In-Chief

MarketWatch's David Callaway was named editor-in-chief USA Today, the newspaper announced Tuesday.

Callaway will start the job later in July, according to the paper. He comes to USA Today from his current position as editor-in-chief of MarketWatch, a financial news website where he has worked since 1999.

USA Today president and publisher Larry Kramer praised Callaway on Tuesday, touting his experience with digital news. "David is a distinguished journalist with a deep understanding of digital news and we are thrilled to have him join the USA TODAY team," he said. "He has successfully run a newsroom that produced regular television, radio, digital and mobile news products. Here, he will also lead a multi-platform newsroom that will provide our readers with the outstanding content they have come to expect from us."

Callaway returned the praise. "I couldn't be more excited to be joining the USA TODAY team, and to rejoin Larry, as we begin a new era in digital journalism at one of the most well known news brands in the country," he said.
