Ouch!! Some of those were right on the nose haha. I liked the one that said something about "will you be my date as just a friend, but I'm still going to try and sleep with you." HOWEVER, I've been to a wedding with a girlfriend, and been to one single, and going single was by far a lot more fun. =D

If you're not ashamed of being single in the first place, then you can't be offended at someone's wedding. Why do we make being single such an offense!

I got married at 19 the first time. I went to my best friend's three weddings, and I got married a second time.
I am divorced again, but living with my boyfriend. No, there will not be a third wedding for me.
I have a 6 year old grandson. I wish I could be at his wedding, but I will settle for the Bar Mitzvah.
I have been to many funerals, including my two brothers . I didn't dance at their weddings because they died young.
Weddings are a time to hope for the couple's future and your own.
Much better to rejoice at a wedding than to mourn at a funeral.

The only thing I ever felt on someone's wedding day is gladness that it isn't me. Most single people I know have chosen it for themselves and wouldn't want to live any other way. I imagine there are some who desperately want to marry, but quite frankly, I don't think I ever ran across one. I've had several chances to marry, never wanted to give up the freedom, I would probably shrivel up and die.

Going to a wedding when you're a single guest is hard enough, but the worst one for me was the time I was a bridesmaid for my best friend's wedding-the week after I had just found out from my fiance's MOTHER that he was also engaged to another woman! Formal events of any sort are hard enough for a single person, especially if they involve dancing because half the songs are slow-dance songs so you spend all your time sitting on your butt, but this was the first time I sort of "endured" the wedding. However, I was determined not to ruin it for my friend and her new husband, so I kept up a "the show must go on" attitude and did everything I could to help make their special day great, from wishing them a toast ("May you live as long as you want, but never want as long as you live, and may the road always rise up to meet you-just watch out for life's speed bumps!") to helping a bunch of friends decorate their car during the reception (THAT'S fun!). Having to hitch a ride back to her house where my car was parked (the limo driver had already left) was a major pain, and having to drive meant I couldn't really drink at the wedding, so I waited until I got back to my apartment to get riproaring drunk-at least that way I'd be numb enough to get some sleep!

I personally think the best part of a wedding from a single person's standpoint is going and seeing the fools. The fools you say? Yes, the fools. Those up front saying "I do." I've been there, done that. After 17 years of marriage I pulled the ejection handle and have enjoyed it ever since. Marriage is a fools errand in this day and age.

When I was single, I never understood the stigma about attending a wedding alone. I loved it! I also attended my 10-year high school reunion alone.

I enjoyed being able to visit with other acquaintances as long as I wanted, without having to worry if my date was having a good time. I had friends who would NOT attend certain events if they didn't have a date.

I've got one to go to in September... where I only know the Bride, and my best friend is a Bridesmaid. I'll meet the other girls at the bachelorette party, but it's going to be awkward. I"m going with my sister as she's been invited too, so people will think we're weird. I'm going to eat my free food, drink my free wine, and be glad I'm not the one spending a year's salary on tasteless food and a few hours of awkward dancing and conversations.

I freaking love being a single wedding guest. I can wonder about wherever I want. Drink as much as I want. Have whatever conversations or lack thereof that I want, and most importantly, LEAVE whenever I want.

As a single guy, going to these weddings suck. Most of the time I can't find another single girl there let alone one that is even remotely attractive.

Well, I agree, and I should have specified. I love going to wedding receptions. The actual ceremonies are usually horrible.. Hurry up and get there, just to wait, then hear nothing of the service....yep, just get me to the reception :)

I have no problem going to a wedding on my own but the last one everyone there was married with kids.After standing around with a fake,frozen smile on my face,the bride whispered to me, "It's OK,I won't be offended if you want to leave" THANK YOU! ;)
