'Bones' At Comic-Con: David Boreanaz, Emily Deschanel Preview 'Darker' Season 8; Plus Some New Footage (VIDEO)

Boreanaz & Deschanel Dish On 'Bones' Season 8

"Bones" stars David Boreanaz and Emily Deschanel held court at Comic-Con in San Diego on Friday. The "Bones" stars gathered with executive producer Stephen Nathan, who filling in for "Bones" creator Hart Hanson, who was unable to attend due to an eye injury. The trio offered some scoop on the show's upcoming Season 8, and Fox released a trailer that contains some new footage from the upcoming season.

TV Guide Magazine columnist William Keck reports that Season 8 will pick up three months after the Season 7 finale, when Brennan was framed for murder by Pelant and had to flee with the couple's daughter.

Nathan revealed that Season 8 will feature a "darker tone" than previous seasons, and Pelant will "continue to be a major force."

There was no substantive update offered on the show's chances of lasting beyond Season 8, a particularly hot topic after Boreanaz sent out a series of cryptic tweets in June hinting that "Bones" could be coming to an end. But Boreanaz did clarify that he "wants 'Bones' to go on forever."

Other highlights of the show's panel included talk about whether Booth and Brennan will get back together when they're reunited next season. Emily Deschanel wondered aloud if "more 'Bones' babies" would be on the way, and Nathan teased, "When they come back together, who knows?"

At times, Booth and Brennan's fictional chemistry spilled over to Boreanaz and Deschanel. Boreanaz said he "loves looking at Emily Deschanel's gorgeous blue eyes every day on set. Later, he told her that during their washing-machine sex scene, he wanted to "put [her] up on the washing machine and just go at it." For her part, Deschanel noted that she didn't even remember kissing on the London Bridge.

In other love-story related news, Nathan revealed that "Cam will have a love interest this year and it's someone you know," which immediately had fans speculating it could be Lance Sweets.

TV Guide reports Nathan also revealed that Booth's family will be a focal point of the new season. "I think it's time to see his mother," he said.

More scoop on Season 8: An entire episode will be filmed from the point of view of a skull. Also, David Boreanaz told Keck that Booth and Brennan will be "going undercover in the world of ballroom dance," which could mean that Brennan will re-emerge from hiding.
