Brad Pitt 'World War Z' Production Woes: Actor Reportedly Not Talking With Director

Brad Pitt's War?

No matter how suspenseful Brad Pitt's "World War Z" turns out to be, it likely won't top the off-screen intrigue surrounding the film. The latest plot twist: Vulture reports that Pitt and director Marc Forster aren't on speaking terms, a major issue as "World War Z" heads for reshoots in the coming weeks.

Relayed intrepid Vulture entertainment report Claude Brodesser-Akner: "Things got so bad that when Forster had notes on a scene for Pitt, they had to be relayed through an intermediary -- and vice versa."

Production on "World War Z" has taken a "Heart of Darkness"-like turn in recent months. Back in March, Paramount moved the film from its December release date to June of 2013. Then in early June of this year, it was reported that Damon Lindelof was hired to rewrite the ending before several weeks of reshoots were scheduled in the fall. About that: It was recently revealed by Deadline.com that "Cabin in the Woods" director Drew Goddard -- who worked with Lindelof on "Lost" -- was actually handling the rewrites. According to Vulture, however, Lindelof was involved, too; the "Prometheus" writer apparently felt "the script needed months of work, not days."

All of which adds up to a nightmare production that isn't getting any better -- with negative press reports seemingly popping up bi-weekly. Not that you should be totally surprised: The last blockbuster film Forster handled was "Quantum of Solace," a James Bond film that was rushed into production back in 2007.

"On 'Quantum' we were f-cked," Bond star Daniel Craig told Time Out London about the film. "We had the bare bones of a script and then there was a writers' strike and there was nothing we could do. We couldn't employ a writer to finish it."
