When "Dexter" returns for its penultimate seventh season on Showtime this fall, how will Dexter get out of the Season 6 finale situation? How will newcomer Yvonne Strahovski fit into the show? Is romance still possible for Dexter and Deb?

At Comic-Con in San Diego on Thursday night, Michael C. Hall, Jennifer Carpenter, Strahovski and executive producer Scott Buck and
writer/producer Wendy West were on hand to unveil the first two minutes of the upcoming season of "Dexter" and some insider information about Season 7. Warning: Spoilers ahead!

"Dexter" Season 7 kicks off right where Season 6 left off: with Deb walking in on Dexter hovering over a saran-wrapped body. Dexter attempts to talk himself out of the situation -- as you can see in the first two minutes of the season -- but will Deb buy it? "He hopes so, in that moment," Hall said via the official "Dexter" Twitter feed.

The teaser of the initial scene ends with Deb calling the station. Time will tell if she goes through with it, but the threat is always there. "At any second, if I live after what we just saw, at any second, I can tell someone to put cuffs on him and I think he knows that," Carpenter said, via Hitfix.

Though Season 7 focuses on the "consequences of love," as for a Deb/Dexter romance, Carpenter added: "I think him stabbing somebody trumps those thoughts."

"Dexter" Season 7 newcomer (and former "Chuck" star) Yvonne Strahovski also revealed some details about her new character, which she just started playing days ago. "I play a woman who is a woman of mystery with a dark past. She meets ‪Dexter [and] helps him with an investigation," entertainment journalist Shaunna Murphy tweeted. Digital Spy added that the investigation is "an old murder mystery."

Strahovski also said that the "Dexter" set is "better" than "Chuck's." "The energy on the sets is very different. It's different, but it's really great," she said, via Digital Spy.

See how it all plays out when "Dexter" Season 7 premieres on Sunday, September 30, at 9 p.m. ET.
