MetroPerforms! Talent Auditions To Help Select WMATA Station Artists

Metro Holding Auditions For Station Performers

WASHINGTON -- Do you dream of performing at a Metrorail station entrance? Opportunity beckons!

The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority will hold auditions for MetroPerforms! on Tuesday from 5 p.m to 7 p.m. at Metro headquarters (600 Fifth St. NW) on a first-come, first-served basis. Performers of all genres -- think "America's Got Talent" -- are welcome.

Selected performers will have the opportunity to perform in authorized areas of Metro stations, for scheduled slots from July through September. Busking and merchandising aren't permitted for MetroPerforms!-authorized artists. Don't expect Joshua Bell to perform, either.

Some MetroPerforms! artists will also be chosen for the Music on the Mall program, the collaborative effort between Metro, the National Park Service and D.C. Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton (D).

Who would you like to see performing at a Metrorail station entrance? Tell is in the comments or on Twitter.
