The Cure's Robert Smith Performs Solo Set After Major Equipment Fail (VIDEO)

Robert Smith may look a little different than he did 30 years ago, but we're happy to report that his iconic voice is still the same.

The Cure frontman was forced to play an impromptu acoustic set on Thursday night at Spain's Bilbao BBK Festival after the band's equipment failed. Thankfully, Smith averted the potential crisis by treating the crowd to an extremely rare acoustic set, featuring some of The Cure's biggest hits: "Three Imaginary Boys," "Fire In Cairo" and "Boys Don’t Cry."

After the seven-minute acoustic set -- which happily restored our faith in music -- the rest of the band returned and they played the rest of their 38-song set as normal. Current bands, take note: this is how you turn a potentially disastrous situation into an incredible crowd-pleasing moment.

The Cure are currently touring across Europe this summer and are headlining the U.K.'s Reading And Leeds Festivals, alongside Kasabian and Foo Fighters, this summer.
