Hillary Clinton: Mitt Romney's Campaign Is Wasting Money Using Me In Attack Ads

Hillary Clinton: Using Me In Attack Ads Is A 'Waste Of Money' For The Romney Campaign

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Monday that Mitt Romney's campaign is squandering funds by including her in attack ads against former opponent and President Barack Obama.

"I am out of politics, and I haven't seen any of the ads that you're talking about, but I have to say it's a waste of money," Clinton told CNN. "Everybody knows I ran against President Obama in 2008. It's hardly news. Everybody knows we ran a hard-fought campaign, and he won."

Last month, the presumptive GOP presidential nominee's team released a 30-second television spot featuring a visibly agitated Clinton accusing Obama of "perpetuating falsehoods" and later saying, "Shame on you, Barack Obama" -- recycled footage from the 2008 Democratic primary. At the time, then-presidential candidate Clinton was pushing back against the Obama campaign's claims that she misled the public about her voting history.

The Romney ad aims to discredit Obama's recent attacks on the former Massachusetts governor's outsourcing record while at the helm of private equity firm Bain Capital.

"He also attacked Hillary Clinton with vicious lies," the spot's narrator says of Obama before the Clinton soundbite plays.
