Eric Strauss, ABC News Producer, Marries Bridget Kelly

ABC News Producer Met His Bride Under 'Unusual Circumstances'

Eric Strauss, an ABC News producer, said in his wedding vows that he met his bride "during some unusual circumstances."

They met in 2004 when he was covering her for ABC News' "Primetime." Two years earlier, Kelly had been kidnapped, robbed, raped and shot. She was left for dead in a field.

Charlie Gibson reported on what he called her "extraordinary story of survival," and her subsequent advocacy work for victims of sexual violence. Strauss was assigned to interview other people and shoot video of Kelly in Texas.

They were married in New York on July 7, ten years after the horrific attack. Kelly's father Michael, a columnist for the Omaha World-Journal, chronicled their relationship and wrote about their wedding day in a sweet piece on Sunday.

“You revealed yourself to be a beautiful warrior the second I met you,” Strauss told Kelly at their wedding. “With your regal elegance, insightfulness and compassion, you inspire me to be better.”
