New York Horse-Drawn Carriage Driver Spouts Anti-Gay, Racist Slurs In Pride Weekend Tirade (GRAPHIC)

WATCH: NYC Carriage Driver Goes Off On Shocking Anti-Gay, Racist Tirade

New York's horse-drawn carriages may be one of the city's most iconic attractions, but tourists might think twice about riding one after watching this disturbing video ( WARNING: contains graphic language).

As our friends at Towleroad reported, an unidentified carriage driver spouted a series of homophobic and racist epithets after he encountered a group of women distributing leaflets near Central Park during New York's LGBT Pride weekend in late June.

After accusing the women of "bribing the politicians," the driver slams the group as "a f**king dyke convention."

He then declares, "F**king nigger!"

Tennis legend (and longtime PETA advocate) Martina Navratilova responded with a letter to NYC City Council speaker Christine Quinn condemning both the driver's tirade and the horse-drawn carriage industry as a whole.

"As any animal lover will tell you, the carriage drivers you support spew hate when anyone expresses concern for the horses they force to work in all weather extremes, and during Pride weekend it was captured on video," Navratilova writes in the letter, which can be viewed in full on Towleroad.

She continues, "Many PETA advocates, including me, are gay. We share a heightened sense of responsibility in fighting the callous disregard that many have for animal suffering because we have experienced a similar disregard for the cruelty that we ourselves have faced. You are a champion of gay rights; won't you extend your compassion to the city's beleaguered working animals?"
