'Doctor Who': Karen Gillan, Arthur Darvill Talk 'Perfect' Departure (VIDEO)

Karen Gillan: 'Doctor Who' Departure Feels 'Sort Of Perfect'

"Doctor Who" stars Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill are bidding an emotional farewell to the series, and the duo, who play Amy Pond and Rory Williams, are leaning on each other for support.

"I've always been saying that I'm so glad we're going through this together," Gillan told IGN in the video below. "Because I don't think I'd hold it together on my own."

In fact, during the "Doctor Who" Comic-Con panel, Gillan said she couldn't stop crying. "I didn't stop crying for two weeks ... in-between takes. I didn't hold it together, I've got to be honest," Gillan told the Comic-Con crowd.

Amy and Rory will leave the Doctor (Matt Smith) after another encounter with the Weeping Angels, Gillan's favorite "Doctor Who" villains. "It just feels sort of perfect," she said.

"We're just pleased that the episodes we're going out with are so brilliant," Darvill said. "It's five really strong, big Amy and Rory episodes."

"Doctor Who's" Steven Moffat has said that not everybody will escape the Weeping angels alive, so could Rory and Amy ever return?

"I guess anything's possible with time travel," Gillan said. That TARDIS sure could come in handy when the Doctor is missing his former companions.

The Doctor won't be alone for long: he'll soon be joined by Clara, played by Jenna-Louise Coleman. The Doctor's new companion will make her first appearance in the show's Christmas special.

"I'm beyond excited, I can't wait to get cracking; working alongside Matt I know is going to be enormous fun and a huge adventure," Coleman said in a statement.

Gillan told IGN she hasn't been dispensing too much advice to Coleman.

"I wanted her to have her own experience and discover it for herself," Gillan said. However, she and Coleman have been texting each other hashing out a plot to make Smith uneasy on the "Doctor Who" set. Find out more in the video below.
