Boy Scouts Gay Ban Discussed By Michelangelo Signorile On Current TVs 'The Young Turks'

Michelangelo Signorile: Maybe Progressive Boys Should Join Girl Scouts Instead

At a time when so many facets of American culture are moving forward to embrace gay rights -- the government, corporations, musicians, social organizations, television and beyond -- one of the most quintessentially American groups, The Boy Scouts of America, refuses to join in.

After a confidential two year review, The Boy Scouts of America have reaffirmed their ban on gay troop leaders or members and recently axed a 19-year old from his position as summer camp counselor after he came out.

Yesterday, HuffPost Gay Voices Editor-at-Large Michelangelo Signorile spoke with Current TV's "The Young Turks" to discuss the organization's anti-gay policy.

Watch the clip above in which Signorile discusses the increasing influence of conservative religious groups in the Boy Scouts and contrasts the exclusionary organization with the Girl Scouts, which is "light-years ahead," as it welcomes both lesbian and transgender girls.
