Three-Time Olympic Medalist Angelo Taylor Says Atlanta Helped Him Go For Gold

Olympian Angelo Taylor Says How Atlanta Helped Him Go For Gold

As the former capitol of the "Old South," Atlanta is also the same city that gave birth to the civil rights movement. Today, it's home to one of America's most successful African American populations with the power to influence the cultural trends and attitudes of the rest of Black America. As part of our Atlanta Spotlight Series, Huffington Post BlackVoices has taken readers on an intimate tour of the city to show who's who, the hot spots and all Hotlanta has to offer. Kicking off the series, "The Real Housewives of Atlanta" star Cynthia Bailey told us why she loved the big city.

Next, actress Kim Fields of "Living Single" and "Facts of Life" fame spoke about the many opportunities available to entertainment professionals. For the final installment, we bring you 3-time Olympic gold medal winner and world champion rely racer Angelo Taylor, who explains why the southern city is a perfect location for athletes.

“The weather is good and conducive for my career as an elite track & field athlete. Atlanta is also home of the busiest airport (Jackson-Hartsfield) in the world, which works well for my busy schedule. But the best reason why I love Atlanta is because I’ve lived here all my life and always will.”
