Mayim Bialik On 'The Big Bang Theory': Actress Talks Emmy Nomination

What Was Mayim Bialik Doing When Her Emmy Nod Was Announced?

It's hard not to love the socially awkward Amy Farrah Fowler (Mayim Bialik) on "The Big Bang Theory." But until Thursday morning, Bialik had no idea just how lovable her character was.

"I was so sure I was not getting nominated that I was on the phone doing an interview with Babyzone.com about breastfeeding," Bialik told Vulture. "And I got off and realized, 'Oh, they must have announced, let me see if Kristen Wiig got nominated.' And as I went to turn on the Internet on my phone, the call came in from my publicist."

Not tuning in to nomination announcements seems to be a trend among this year's nominees -- just ask Lena Dunham.

"I set my alarm for 9 (ET) because I thought it would be really cool of me to sleep past when everyone knows," Dunham told EW. "And of course I woke up at 7:30!"
