Daniel Ramos, 18, Twirls Baton To One Direction's 'What Makes You Beautiful' (VIDEO)

Baton Twirler Dances To 'What Makes You Beautiful' (VIDEO)

Just when Top 40 covers are feeling a little "been there, done that" -- after all, "Call Me Maybe" has been sung by both a Corgi and Cookie Monster -- 18-year-old Daniel Ramos has found a way to put unique new twist on a radio hit.

The singer-songwriter from Corpus Christi, Texas, is a national champion baton twirler, and he uses a twirling routine to amp up One Direction's hit "What Makes You Beautiful."

He told the Huffington Post in an email that he learned the art from his mother and aunt, and currently holds over 40 titles.

If twirling brings high school marching bands to mind, think again -- Ramos's version involves cartwheels, pirouettes and hip-hop. He says, "I am a singer and songwriter first and foremost, and it's always been my dream to be able to incorporate twirling into my music performance."

Like Ramos, many other teens have taken to YouTube to put their own spin on their favorite songs. Earlier this summer, HuffPost Teen rounded up its favorite covers of "Die In Your Arms" by Justin Bieber and "Good Time" by Owl City feat. Carly Rae Jepsen.
