Meredith Vieira: 'I Wasn't Even Going To Audition For 'The View' ' (VIDEO)

WATCH: Meredith Vieira: 'I Wasn't Even Going To Audition For 'The View''

Even though Meredith Vieira left her high-profile position as co-anchor of "The Today Show" a year ago, the beloved broadcast journalist has continued to "stay in the NBC family." She made her debut as special correspondent on "Rock Center with Brian Williams" last February; she's hosted "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire" for 10 years; and she will contribute to the network's 2012 Olympics coverage.

But the Emmy award-winning reporter took time to look back on her almost 10-year stint as one of the original co-hosts on ABC's "The View" -- a gig she almost rejected, she told Anderson Cooper on his talk show today.

"It's hard going from being the objective newsperson to interjecting your personality and your opinion every chance you get," Vieira said. "At that point I wasn't even going to audition for 'The View.'"

Vieira says her husband Richard deserves the credit for her decision to join the program. Check out the video above for what he said to make her reconsider.
