Olympic Moms: Laura Kraut, Equestrian Show Jumper

By Danielle Elliot

Laura Kraut heads to London with her biggest fan, 13-year-old Bobby, by her side. Kraut attended the 1992 Summer Games as an alternate with the U.S. equestrian team before making her official competitive debut in 2000. She won gold in 2008. Bobby says she’s very competitive, but leaves that in the show ring. “As a mom, she’s pretty mellow,” he says. “I see a lot of other moms that aren’t as cool as her.” Winning a gold medal is one thing - but to have your teenage son call you cool? That is an accomplishment.
