Cheating Celebrities: Star Couples Who Stuck Together Through Scandalous Affairs

The news of Kristin Stewart's infidelity with married "Snow White and the Hunstman" director Rupert Sanders came as shock to many KStew and RPatz fans, as well as to Sanders' wife, British model, Liberty Ross.

But all hope is not lost for Sanders and Ross.

There are -- believe it or not -- married celebrity couples who have come back from cheating scandals, whether just allegations or admitted affairs.

• Josh Duhamel and Fergie

• Bill and Hillary Clinton

  News of <a href="http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2012/02/bill-clinton-struggled-to-deal-with-lewinsky-affair-film-says/" target="_hplink">former president Bill Clinton's affair</a> with then-23-year-old White House intern Monica Lewinsky broke in 1998 during his second term as president. His wife and now-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has stayed by his side ever since, despite very public criticism of the affair.

• Anthony Weiner and Huma Abedin

  With the most unfortunate name in history to headline a political sex scandal, New York representative <a href="http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/anthony-weiner-york-democrat-admits-internet-affairs/story?id=13775137#.UBMSEmnLwgV" target="_hplink">Anthony Weiner admitted</a> to tweeting pictures of himself naked to other women in 2011. His wife, aide to fellow philanderer's wife Hillary Clinton, was pregnant at the time the news hit, and is still by his side today.

• David and Victoria Beckham

  International soccer star David Beckham and his wife, former Spice Girl and fashion designer, Victoria, <a href="http://www.eonline.com/news/221332/david-beckham-s-guide-to-not-cheating" target="_hplink">survived an alleged cheating scandal published in <em>In Touch Weekly</em></a> in 2010. The magazine alleged that Beckham spent several nights with call girl Irma Nici in 2007. Beckham sued <em>In Touch</em> for defamation, but the <a href="http://articles.nydailynews.com/2011-02-14/gossip/28616144_1_irma-nici-cheating-story-david-beckham" target="_hplink">lawsuit was thrown out.</a>

• David Letterman and Regina Lasko

  Late night comedian David Letterman married wife Regina Lasko in 2009 after dating for 23 years, but confessed -- <a href="http://www.etonline.com/tv/122188_Letterman_on_Family_Life_Post_Scandal/index.html" target="_hplink">on air, no less -- to an extramarital affair</a> just months after their nuptials. They're still together, however, and have an 8-year-old son.

Maybe we weren't meant to be completely monogamous. Although I certainly don't like the idea of a cheating spouse, perhaps one time is forgiveable... especially if you have children together.

I do believe it's a shame to end a marriage, especially if there are children, over one infidelity. However, I can't understand for the life of me how these women can ever trust these men to be out of their sight. I also can't figure out how you can be intimate with him without thinking about the other woman while it's happening. Even if I still loved him and wanted to save the marriage I couldn't do it. I'd love to know how they get past that.

I'd say these couples have nothing in common, and neither do their motives for staying together. And I can say for certain that only two of them - Hillary Clinton and Huma Abedin - appear to stay in their respective marriages with respect, integrity, humility and because they have a bond to their spouse, despite being humiliated and betrayed.
I cannot speak for the rest of that lot, but it seems couples in the entertainment industry operate with different standards, as they are more often subject to temptation and on the receiving end of offers.

I think it doesn't matter what industry you're in. Most people cheat because they have means and opportunity. There's not a lot of over weight, below average looking, low-income men out there cheating on their wives... Why, means and opportunity? People in all cities and all industries cheat, it's just not normally national news.

You missed Beckham and Rebecca Loos. That was his biggest affair.
None of these have anything on my parents. My father's had so many affairs I've lost count. My mother deserves it though. She nags him too much.

I'm not sure that's a fair assertion. A certain percentage of typical marriages do survive an affair. Unless we assume that those also are all for nefarious non-loving reasons, it seems safe to assume that some celebrities would make it too.

They have the added burden of having to have their personal breakdowns in the public eye, but most of them are still people. (I've divorced more than once and would not want to go through that on the cover of The Enquirer.)

I believe Proud is probably right with the political couples...didn't even remember the Beckhams'...some truly love each other and work through it, David, i agree...some have open marriages which is weird to me...
