Katie Couric debuted her talk show's theme song on Thursday.
The song, "This Day," was composed and performed by Sheryl Crow especially for Couric's upcoming daytime talk show, "Katie."
Couric released the theme song with a new video promo on the same day as the Television Critics Association fall TV previews. Couric told critics and reporters that her show, which premiers on September 10, will be "smart with heart" and comprised of segment topics skewed towards female audiences.
To prepare for her big premiere, Couric reportedly said that she had to "refamiliarize" herself some with her "Today" show persona. Couric, who was adored as "Today" co-host for her perky personality, had to channel her more serious side when she left the network to join "CBS Evening News."
It's not surprising, then, that the promos for Couric's new show are so sunny. Previous videos feature the upcoming talk show host walking on the beach, hugging fans in Central Park and having drinks with her friends.
The video released on Thursday had a similar tone. Quick shots of Couric on her home computer, smelling herbs in a garden, hugging more fans in Central Park, and walking her dog on the streets of New York are all set to Crow's lighthearted song.
