Elizabeth Warren Touts Plan To Rebuild Economy In New TV Ad

Elizabeth Warren Focuses On Rebuilding Economy In New Ad

Elizabeth Warren, Democratic Senate candidate in Massachusetts, released a new ad Friday laying out her plan to invest in America's infrastructure to grow the economy.

"Why aren't we rebuilding America?" Warren asks in the ad. "Our competitors are putting people to work, building a future. China invests 9 percent of its GDP in infrastructure. America? We're at just 2.4 percent. We can do better."

Warren's ad, titled "Rebuild," comes after an ad issued earlier this week by her challenger, incumbent Sen. Scott Brown (R-Mass.), went viral. Brown's ad featured a 2011 clip of Warren saying, “there is nobody in this country who got rich on his own."

The ad is an effort to liken Warren's statement to President Barack Obama's "you didn't build that" comments, which have been widely taken out of context by his Republican opponents.

The commercial also invites viewers to Warren’s website, where her “Rebuild Now” plan outlines seven steps she claims will spur economic growth. Earlier this month, a Boston Globe report found that Warren's proposal would reduce the national debt by 67 percent more than proposals presented by Brown over a period of 10 years.

The two candidates are locked in a heated race that is expected to remain close until November.
