Shawn Johnson opened up about her new role at Today.com and not competing in the Olympics on Friday.

The athlete was named special correspondent to the website for the summer games. She announced her retirement from gymnastics in June after not making the Olympic team. On Friday, Roker asked her what she was looking forward to in her new position.

"Just getting to seeing the Olympics from this side of it," Johnson said. "It's a little bittersweet... but now getting to interview the athletes and now have fun with it — it's gonna be interesting."

She suggsted that athletes should censor themselves on social media at the games. Johnson added that she would be proud seeing her teammates at the opening ceremony on Friday night.
