As 9 to 5ers around the world returned to work Monday, the 2012 London Summer Olympics continued to heat up with China in the lead as the top medal winner.

China continued its reign, nabbing gold in men's synchronised 10m platform diving Monday morning. Mexico took silver while the U.S. inched out Great Britain for the bronze medal.

Tennis sisters Venus and Serena Williams both walked off the courts triumphant after winning their singles matches and began their bid for gold in doubles after defeating Sorana Cirstea and Simona Halep of Romania 6-3, 6-2. If successful, this will be the third doubles gold medal for the pair who took who the top prize in 2000 and 2008.

U.S. swimmer Missy Franklin won her first gold medal after narrowly beating Emily Seebohm of Australia in the women's 100m backstroke, while Matthew Grevers and Nick Thoman took home gold and silver, respectively, for the men.

Monday's events include qualifying rounds in archery, badminton, basketball, beach volleyball, boxing, canoeing, equestrian, field hockey, handball, rowing, sailing, table tennis, tennis, volleyball and water polo -- plus medal events in diving, fencing, gymnastics, judo, shooting, swimming and weightlifting.
