Zach Galifianakis As Shrek On Broadway? Comedian Tells Paul F. Tompkins What Could Have Been (VIDEO)

WATCH: Zach On Broadway?!

Zach Galifianakis is making the press rounds lately to promote his first big starring role in a non-Todd Phillips movie, "The Campaign." One of his stops was talking to his old pal Paul F. Tompkins for Tompkins' interview web series "Speakeasy."

Comedians interviewing comedians can be hit and miss (see: "WTF" vs. 99% of comedy podcasts), but Tompkins and Galifianakis' rapport is a lot of fun to watch -- as they mention in the beginning, they've been friends in the L.A. comedy scene for years.

We learn that Zach may or may not have been offered the chance to play Shrek on Broadway, but his lack of singing ability precluded him from taking the role. Take that, Brian d'Arcy James.
