8-Bit Olympics: Animated Video Shows Olympics In Pixelated Form (VIDEO)

The Olympics As A Retro Video Game? (VIDEO)

If you've been following the Olympics, you're used to seeing Team USA and the rest of the world's greatest athletes competing in stunning detail and color. But what if the Olympics were animated in 8-bit, looking like a video game from the late '80s?

A creative re-imagining of the 2012 London Olympics by the animators at Flikli.com shows the events in full pixelated glory -- and it's actually pretty awesome. Watch rhythmic gymnasts leap, swimmers race through the water, and fencers face-off in Pacman-esque form while bleepy electro plays in the background.

Some other fun videos we love that have recently come out of the Olympics are "Call Me Lochte," the Ryan Lochte and Michael Phelps-inspired "Call Me Maybe" parody that brought Carly Rae Jepsen's hit to the London Games, and a hilarious viral video of teen gymnast Aly Raisman's parents watching their daughter compete, moving their heads and yelling "stick it!" along to their daughter's every skill and trick.
