Nicki Minaj's "Pound the Alarm" video has feathers. That's the takeaway from the new clip, a bouncy and brightly-colored affair that brings Minaj to her native Trinidad with a full compliment of confetti canons.
The Carnivale feel of the "Pound the Alarm" video is infectious, as is the pop-leaning song, which recalls Minaj's Top-40 smash, "Starships." (Like that song, "Pound the Alarm" is off Minaj's Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded.) In the video, Minaj -- wearing an array of feathered outfits and partying with equally feathered backup dancers -- is shown living it up in Port of Spain.
Minaj is currently on tour to support Roman Reloaded. The singer's security came under scrutiny last week when a video of fan being beat up on stage during her Miami show emerged. (At that concert, Minaj brought out locals Lil' Wayne and Birdman.) Despite the controversy, Minaj isn't planning to slow down this summer: In addition to the "Pound the Alarm" video, she also recently booked a "Today" show appearance.
