Rush Limbaugh: 'Reporters Are Harassing Romney,' 'Trying To Create Gaffes'

Posted: Updated:

Rush Limbaugh alleged Tuesday that reporters have been "harrassing" Mitt Romney on his overseas trip in order to "create gaffes."

The conservative radio host, speaking on-air, was reacting to a clash between Romney's aide Rick Gorka and press in Warsaw that morning. Gorka cursed at reporters, who had been shouting questions at Romney as he left the Polish Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

"Kiss my ass, this is a holy site for the Polish people. Show some respect," Gorka told the press.

“Now the reporters are harassing Romney,” Limbaugh charged on Tuesday, according to a transcript of the show. “They’re trying to create gaffes. They’re working on behalf of Barack Obama. They are attempting to carry forth the meme that Romney’s foreign trip is a disaster, that it’s one gaffe after another. They’re trying to do this in the mainstream. And the fact of the matter is Romney is having a home run of a trip.”

Limbaugh claimed that Romney had been so successful overseas that he was criticized by Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Ahmadinejad had said that the candidate was "kissing the foot of Israel" to get to the White House.

Others would disagree with Limbaugh's characterization of the trip as a "home run." Romney was mocked for several missteps in the UK, including questioning London's readiness for the Olympics and referring to the Labour Party's Ed Millibrand as "Mr. Leader."
