Former Texas solicitor general Ted Cruz, fresh off his victory in the state's Senate GOP primary on Tuesday, was scheduled to appear on "Fox and Friends" on Wednesday morning at 8:30 a.m. The show promoted his appearance at the top of the 6:00, 7:00 and 8:00 hours.

One of the previews:

But when 8:30 a.m. rolled around, Cruz was a no-show. Instead, the three co-hosts talked about what they were doing that summer, went over the day's headlines and then went to Fox News Correspondent Peter Doocy (son of host Steve Doocy) for his take on Mitt Romney's trip abroad.

James Bernsen, Cruz's communications director, did not say why the candidate did not do the interview on Wednesday morning, but he told The Huffington Post they were working to reschedule it for Thursday.

"We're trying to book it for tomorrow, but there are lots of moving parts," he said. "We are being flooded with media requests and we're working them in as best we can."

A Fox spokeswoman did not return a request for comment.

Cruz, a Tea Party darling, defeated establishment favorite Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst (R) in Tuesday's Senate run-off.

"We are witnessing a great awakening," Cruz told supporters on Tuesday after his victory. "Millions of Texans -- millions of Americans are rising up to reclaim our country, to defend liberty and to restore the Constitution."
