'Ghostbusters 3': Bill Murray Not Involved Says Dan Aykroyd, Again

If it's Thursday, it must be time for Dan Aykroyd to, once again, inform the general public that Bill Murray isn't involved in "Ghostbusters 3."

In a new interview with Metro, Aykroyd reiterated that Murray isn't planning to star in the sequel no one particularly wants. "No, I can tell you he won't be involved," Aykroyd said. "It's sad but we're passing it on to a new generation. 'Ghostbusters 3' can be a successful movie without Bill. My preference would be to have him involved but at this point he doesn't seem to be coming and we have to move on. It's time to make the third one."

If that sounds familiar, it's because you remember when Aykroyd said something similar in February of this year.

"Bill Murray will not do the movie," the erstwhile Ray Stantz told the Telegraph. "He doesn’t want to be involved. He’s got six kids, houses all over America. He golfs in these tournaments where they pay him to turn up and have a laugh. He’s into this life and living it. I know we’d have a lot of fun [but] I can’t be mad at him. He’s a friend first, a colleague second. We have a deep personal relationship that transcends business and he doesn’t want to know."

While that sounds pretty definitive, Murray himself has kept the "Ghostbusters" charade up whenever he can.

"Well, it's a possibility," Murray said during an interview with WGN-TV sports anchor Pat Tomasulo in April.

Of course, Murray preceded that with the following: "You can't believe everything you read."
