This is the result of the patriarchal society, machismo and men being threatened when women start to get more power. By getting more "power" I mean women defending themselves, getting more active in daily life and earning their own money. Any decent society would find these attackers, punish them publicly and outcast them because sometimes laws are not enough to deter people from doing evil things.

Ladies, if you think you are in danger, get a gun. The government can not protect you. They may be there to punish the person who hurt you but that will be after your life is destroyed. Jealous men are extremely volatile but guns eliminate any physical inequalities.

SOMETHING I'VE ALWAYS BELIEVED...

Every crime that is humanly harsh should not be aired to the public
because of this reason! People cry! We have a right to know!
But in attacks such as these, the media feeds the angure and hunger
for revenge.

Every 3 minutes of every hour there is someone looking for revenge
a new way to hurt someone, and the media gives them that fix!

In the last 10 yrs...
Mass Shootings, People set Fire, Children being Drowned
Girl Friends Murdered, Wife Killings! The rise of All of the incidents
came about after being aired by the media!

Communities around the country need to stop glorifying crimes!
We also need to take a harsher stand on the punishment of such
crimes!

I say...
If without a doubt, a person is proven guilty...
Punishment should be delt the same as the victim's!

Life in prison is too good for some of these criminals
creating these hannous crimes!

Oh I agree with you women can be VICIOUS. They are catty and backstabbing. They will also tell you they love you and NOT mean it. Look at the Disney villains? Grimhilde and Millicent. What do they have in common? Women! Don't even get me started on that b#%tch Scarlett O'Hara..

This is entirely the fault of Christianity. This religion encourages oppression and dehumanization of women all over the globe. It's holy book preaches violence and misogyny.

(I post this only slightly tongue-in-cheek. I am 100% sure if this happened in Pakistan, the majority of comments would blame Islam. But for some reason (i.e. bigotry, hatred, intolerance), they're blind to the fact that this kind of thing happens everywhere in the world.)

You still have the death penalty and are one of the very few advanced nations to retain it, you have the highest prison population in the world per capita... along with very high crime rates compared to al other industrialized nations.
I'd suggest that the punishment part of your justice system not being harsh enough isn't therefore the issue.

This tactic is as close as one can get to killing someone. I am not a proponent of violence but the culprit's punishment in this cas should be the same acid treatment as his victim. It should be made a law and perhaps then potential cowards won't attempt it.

I wonder what measures are being taken to reduce such attacks. In my opinion, the men who commit this insanely horrific crime should have the same done to them, on both their heads.

Although that's not how the justice system is supposed to work, I do feel it would be the most effective way to reduce or eliminate these horrendous acts.
