Boomer Esiason On Jets: "I Would Cut Tim Tebow"

Not everyone in New York is thrilled about Tim Tebow's arrival, and following Saturday’s Green and White scrimmage it seems the criticism has gotten even harsher.

Boomer Esaison, the one-time NFL MVP, four-time Pro-Bowl selection and co-host of the radio show "Boomer & Carton", had some choice words for the Jets following a lackluster performance from the former Broncos quarterback in the scrimmage. According to CBS Sports, current starting QB Mark Sanchez looked sharp, completing 11 of 16 passes, while Tebow failed all three of his attempts.

As a former New York Jet, the Tebow situation hits close to home for Esiason. "You want to know if I were the Jets, what I would do?" Esiason started. "I would cut Tim Tebow. I really would."

The radio commentator went on to say the only reason to keep Tebow would be for the team's personality, since Tebow's just about the only player on the team with a positive public image.

Sanchez wasn't particularly defensive of his back-up either, saying little more than, “Tim ran the ball really well.”

The Jets might not have a fight for the starting QB spot at this point, but the players don't seem opposed to physically fighting one another in practice.

According to the New York Daily News, a rumble broke out during practice on Monday after running back Joe McKnight hurled a football in the face of rookie safety D’Anton Lynn.

A total of about 20 players rushed to the brawl, presumably to break it up, including Tebow.

While many of the players took the fight to just be an unfortunate consequence of practice, Sanchez admonished a few of his teammates. “(If) you throw the ball at somebody in a game,” Sanchez told the Daily News. “You are going to get 15 yards. I don’t know if that’s a great habit to get into.”
