In a move that would make Katniss Everdeen scowl, Target is planning to sell a replica 14-karat gold Mockingjay pin to "Hunger Games" fans for a cool $999. The move is being done in conjunction with the DVD and Blu-ray release of "The Hunger Games."

For those unfamiliar with the blockbuster film, Katniss (played onscreen by Jennifer Lawrence) is given the Mockingjay pin -- a symbol of resistance -- by her sister before embarking to the Capitol for the Hunger Games. (In the Suzanne Collins best-selling book, Katniss receives the pin from Madge Undersee, the mayor's daughter.)

According to THR, Target is also selling Katniss' leather jacket and signed lithographs from members of the cast. This shift to memorabilia coincides with the release of "The Hunger Games" Blu-ray and DVD on Aug. 21.

Despite not being in 3D, "The Hunger Games" is the year's second biggest grosser in North America with over $405 million. Worldwide, "The Hunger Games" trails only "Marvel's The Avengers," "The Dark Knight Rises" and "Ice Age: Continental Drift."

With money flowing through the "Hunger Games" franchise like the finest Capitol wine, it should come as no surprise that Jennifer Lawrence is looking to earn a higher salary for "Catching Fire," the second film in the series. Per THR, Lawrence will reportedly earn $10 million for her part in the Francis Lawrence film.

"Catching Fire" is out in theaters on Nov. 22, 2013. For more on the mockingjay pin, head over to THR.
