Three days after a gunman calling himself the Joker from the Batman series shot dead 12 people in a suburban Denver movie theater, the National Rifle Association sent out a letter asking for money.

I admit it, I support the right to responsible gun ownership, But I'm not at all happy having the NRA be the group out there representing gun owners, because let's face it, the NRA is made up of a bunch of nutcases who spend their time lying to themselves about that radical in the White House who is going to take their guns away, even though he's ignored guns as policy, and in the meantime we seem to have weekly massacres as more and more dangerously unstable people get their hands on heavy weaponry.

There has got to be a middle road that allows responsible gun ownership for hunting and home protection, but it's never going to go anywhere as long as Ted Nugent is the spokesman for owning guns.
