A "Glee" star could be getting a new gig.

The young actor, who portrays Artie on Ryan Murphy's hit Fox musical dramedy, has had a couple of previous hosting duties on Fox. He co-hosted the Teen Choice Awards in July with Demi Lovato, who is a new "X Factor" judge for Season 2, along with Britney Spears, and McHale also hosted a behind-the-scenes featurette during the premiere of "The X Factor's" first season.

But "Glee" fans needn't worry: If McHale does land the "X Factor" hosting position, it won't affect his role as Artie in Season 4, according to TV Guide Magazine.

McHale's name is just the latest to be thrown into the ring for "The X Factor" hosting gig, joining the ranks of Khloe Kardashian, who was recently reportedly to be in the running to host as well.

Steve Jones hosted the first season of "The X Factor," but he was fired along with judges Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger after Season 1 aired. Abdul and Scherzinger were replaced by Lovato and Britney Spears. Producer and judge Simon Cowell said he wanted to replace Jones with two people, a male and female.

In July 2012, E! Online reported Cowell was looking at Mario Lopez, Erin Andrews and other entertainers to possibly serve as host, including George Clooney's girlfriend and former WWE wrestler Stacy Keibler.

"The X Factor" Season 2 premieres Wednesday, September 12 at 8 p.m. ET on Fox.
