'Rat B*stards': Team Clears Out Hunting Cabin Infested With 10-20 Pound Swamp Rats (VIDEO)

"American patriots" or simply pest cotrol? "Rat B*stards" (Tue., 10:30 p.m. ET on Spike) features a team of extermination experts whose primary focus is the invasive nutria rats. Brought over by Americans from South America, the 10-20 pound rodents are proving a real problem for the local Louisiana ecosystem. There just aren't enough natural predators for the enormous rats to control their populations.

Enter the "Cajun Commandoes." This week, cameras caught them tackling a hunting cabin infested with the animals, and it was disturbing to watch. The creatures certainly weren't quiet when being caught, and the cameras didn't shy away from the kill shot either.

That attention to detail has some critics upset with the show. The AV Club wrote that the show "combines the distasteful onscreen hunting … with reality television’s signature mockery of poor, undereducated Americans behaving badly."

Meanwhile, TVGeekArmy took issue with the "patriots" angle of the narration, dubbing it "insane."
