Allyson Felix: 2012 Olympic Games' USA Sprinter Finally Wins Her Gold

LA's Darling Finally Gets Her Gold

Allyson Felix is an LA-born-and-bred sprinter who has been turning heads since she was in high school. A veteran Olympian now (she competed in both the Athens and Beijing Games), she can rest easy now that she's won her first gold.

Felix, who currently lives in the Marina Del Rey, became the first track athlete to turn pro out of high school when she signed a contract with Adidas. She attended USC as a student but has had her eyes on the Olympics all along. In the London Games on Wednesday night, she won gold in the 200 meters, defeating Jamaica's Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, American Carmelita Jeter and her longtime rival, Jamaica's Veronica Campbell-Brown.

Back in March, HuffPost LA had the opportunity to get to know Felix and learn about her training style, her indulgences, her hopes for this year's Olympic Games and, of course, all the hype. Get to know LA's newest golden girl and see what it took for her to get to London.
