Steve Carell Talks About The One Day He Was Employed As A Wine Telemarketer On 'Conan' (VIDEO)

Steve Carell Tells 'Conan' He Was A Wine Telemarketer

All celebrities have funny stories about what they were doing before they got their first break. But Steve Carell delved deep into the recesses of his mind to pull up one of his most ridiculous pre-fame jobs on "Conan" (Weeknights, 11 p.m. ET on TBS).

It is a job, in fact, that most people wouldn't even imagine could exist. Carell worked as a telemarketer selling ... wine!?

He explained that it came down a lot to choosing the right language to describe the flavor of the various wines to the customers over the phone. But then he struggled to come up with the right words. At least, these were hopefully the wrong words.

"It has a buttery, sort of, afterbirth," Carell said. O'Brien declared him a terrible telemarketer after that sales pitch. It's no wonder he only lasted at the job one day.

Catch "Conan" every weeknight at 11 p.m. ET on TBS.
