"American Idol" may be in for a little irony.

She's mentored on "The Voice" and performed on "Idol," but Alanis Morisette could be taking it up a notch.

Morissette told Las Vegas CBS radio station Mix 94.1 that she is in talks to take on "American Idol" for the show's upcoming 12th season.

"I'm in talks with somebody right now. I can't name any names, but I'm pretty excited at the thought of doing it more formally," she said. "I still have to investigate further, and that's all I can say."

Morrisette hasn't been the only name associated with the "Idol" rumor mill this week. According to The New York Post, Sean "Diddy" Combs is in talks to join the singing competition show as well.

Nick Jonas is in the running to judge "Idol" and reportedly, Pharrell Williams is as well.

Let's get this judges panel rolling!

"American Idol" will return to Fox in January 2013.
