Food Truck Social Returns To West Town

An ordinance proposed by Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel would finally allow trucks to cook and prepare food on board. While the trucks are already allowed on Chicagos streets, current rules prohibit operators from so much as putting hot sauce on a taco for a customer. The full City Council could vote on the proposal as soon as next week. (AP Photo/Sitthixay Ditthavong)

Mixed feelings aside, the city finally made some progress for food trucks, which should make the Food Truck Social even more of a celebration this year. Back for its second year, the event will take place on August 25 and 26 in West Town on Chicago Avenue. There will be tons of food and music each day from 12 p.m. to 10 a.m.

Like last year, there will be one pop-up truck featuring various chefs trying their hand at street food. In addition, Kendall college will be on site (without a truck) with students demonstrating their take on the food truck movement as well.
