68%. That number says a lot. Apple's fight to keep their hold on the smartphone/tablet market is not only an uphill battle, it is a loosing fight. iOS is a great embedded system with a lot of potential, unfortunately it is Apple Only. Apple has played this game before, and lost, to Win95 no less. Now they face Android which is stable and open source. Besides, without Steve, there will be no more world changing ideas from Apple, only version bumps to existing product lines.

It has been shown that Android is almost a direct copy of iOS. There is a document that states that Motorola planned the copying as soon as the iPhone 1 came out.

You sound pretty confused. Maybe you should try to elaborate.

Ahem- And I quote
"That iPhone is darn incredible!" pronounces the CEO of Motorola."Yes, but why should we have any interest? All of the technology is patented!" exclaims the Vice President of Engineering."Yeah, but who ever bothers suing for patent infringement?"
"Ahhhhhh."
And so an evil plan to copy the iPhone was hatched.
That is pretty much exactly what was said, in an actual meeting.

I had the old Performa and Apple IIe back in the day. the Indigo iMac G3 was a good computer back when 40gigs was a lot of memory. the performa I think was 800 MB memory. those were the days when we thought 800 MB was all we could ever need O_O.

My iMac G5 had 3 hard drives carsh in 4 years which is what put me off of Apple - that thing was so damn expensive and you pay twice the price for a pretty case.

so in other words apple is nothing but a big bully. so my suggestion is since we have anti bully lobbying going on, this should qualify as another instance. we dont like our kids to be bullied, so why are we letting these corperations bully us? we keep their pockets fat so the solution is not to buy their products. easy to say yes, but we can go a while w/o cell phones & tablets until they give in. we lose entertainment & convienence but they lose money.

Apple has a quarter of a trillion dollars in the bank. Nothing you could do could stop them.

Every one line up to buy the new toy from Apple despite the fact that you bought their new toy 6 months ago.

Then complain about not having any money for retirement, education or housing.

Corporations: Swallowing the American dream a lawsuit at a time. Small business is toast if the Republicans succeed in facilitating the total corporate takeover of the United States of America. Welcome to the plutocracy and remember: Ask not what your corporation can do for you; ask what you can do for your corporation.

Instead of trying to curb competition, what Apple should be asking themselves is, why are Android products selling better than Apple products? The answers are several...

For one, the price. Though Apple makes the best designed gadgets out there, their prices are way too high for many of us. For the price of a good iPad, I can get two to three Android tablets, or a very nice new laptop.

Second, screen size. The iPhone's screen is too small, and the iPad's screen and body are too big. How about a larger screen for the iPhone, and a slightly smaller tablet?

The market is letting Apple know what the people want, but Apple refuses to pay attention to that little fact. The aging eyes of America and the world need better technologies than what Apple is providing right now, and Samsung, and other Android based device makers are paying attention. Didn't Apple say sometime back that 7" tablets would be DOA. It hasn't happened, has it? The customers are telling you something. Pay attention, Apple!

For many of us, the #1 reason for choosing Android is hack-ability.

Apple doesn't always make the best designed products out there. They go through growing pains as the others have. They have News outlets that do most of their advertising for them.If Microsoft controlled pc's and software like Apple does, they would be in court forever. They didn't invent the mouse, nor the gui, keyboard, laptop or battery. They didn't invent the cell phone, nor the chipset, battery.................................. They have well designed products built by the same companies they are sueing. And these co's didn't rip off the screens from apple, etc. How do you patent an icon, or a shortcut, or a GUI?? I have been using a Mac since the two floppy days for full disclosure. I prefer a pc, and make my own. I I have a laptop with 2 solid state drives a really nice and bright display . I am tired of these lawsuits and the patenting of prior art. . If you are afraid of someone making a better mouse trap, time to move on.I am intentionally pissing some one off. ;)

Like I have Always said.............

We are lucky that Mr. FORD Invented the Modern Car and not Mr. JOBS!

If he had there would STILL be lawsuits about ROUND wheels, RUBBER Tires , GAS Engines , Steering Wheels , BRAKES , I could go on and on...................

Funny though apple NEVER wants to talk about how much of the DEFINING Tech that it has in it's products are designed Built and OWNED by the Very people they are SUING!!!

That's is a SECRET.............. The bots would have strokes if they found out that apple didn't invent half the stuff they brag about.

That is all

Hey, did anyone notice that Microsoft went to Apple and that they licensed Apple technology for their new tablet? They learned from the past that it is better to cooperate and exchange licensing than to fight each other in courts which are ten years behind the times. Other players don't get it yet.

MS holds a big club over Apple so they get deals that Apple woudl never give to other vendors.

Apple really wants a complete monopoly but can't do anything to MS without getting severely damaged in return.

Note that Samsung makes the A5 CPU and even though Apples has no other source, they still sued Samsung.

Been saying this for Y_E_A_R_S_!!

Don't bother posting a link to this story on HO.. the Ibots here fly off the Handle at ACTUAL data like this and will Flame you for it or post really stimulating responses such as " MEH "

One day reality is going to sink in.... Suffice it to know that younger ( read more current and informed ) consumers are flocking away from Apple. That story was ignored as well.

If you are GOOD you don't HAVE to CHEAT and Block products from the Fair Market.

This is going to hurt apples long term value. It has already hurt its short term earning for the past few Qtrs.

That is all

Also, if Apple goes down again like they did in the 90s, I bet that MicroSoft won't bail them out this time.

Yeah, free AND open source?! How can you beat that? Apple won't license iOS to other phone makers, so it isn't even an option. MS sells a phone OS that about 500 other people in the world use. (I wonder how life is for Nokia these days.)
