We spend lots of time focusing on what stars wear (and any wardrobe malfunctions they may have), but what about what they put on their faces? Although makeup may not seem important the beauty industry is booming and plenty of women won't leave home without lippy or mascara.

In a survey, two-thirds of British women said that heading to the office bare-faced caused them more stress than public speaking, going on a first date or enduring a job interview. 91 percent of women surveyed would rather cancel a first date altogether than go without makeup on. And in the U.S., women spend around $7 billion on cosmetics every year.

And that doesn't even include hair. The AP recently reported that in 1950, about seven percent of women dyed their hair. Today? 95 percent or more.

With all that beauty-obsession (and our own love of makeup) in mind, we're taking a look at This Week In Beauty. From this week forward, we'll be showcasing the best, worst and most interesting styles of hair, makeup and nails that we came across this week. Take a look, get inspired and vote for your faves!

  • BEST: Jennifer Garner

Jennifer Garner stunned in a gorgeous red dress at the New York City premiere of "The Odd Life Of Timothy Greene" on August 7th. We love her simple yet sophisticated beauty choices: the messy up-do, nude but glossy lips and a soft smoky eye. We've missed the actress on the red carpet as she's more recently kept out of the limelight. Welcome back Jennifer, we missed you! (Fame Flynet photo)

  • WORST: Pink

Pink has always made wild beauty choices, but as the new face of Covergirl, we thought that she might tone down the punk and turn up the 'girl next door.' The singer appeared at the announcement of her new beauty gig in Santa Monica on August 6th with her signature pink 'do done up in a twirl. The rest of her beauty choices were a little more low-key, but on the whole, her unflattering dress plus her cotton candy hair was a little much. • BEST: Christina Hendricks

The red-head bombshell looked amazing at the Hollywood Foreign Press Association's 2012 Installation Luncheon in Beverly Hills on August 9th. It's hard to not look washed out or too red with such brilliant hair color, but the actress managed to pull her beauty look off perfectly with pink lipstick, rosy cheeks and simple, brown eyeliner. • WORST: Alexia Landeau

Actress Alexia Landeau attended the Cinema Society screening of "2 Days In New York" in New York on August 8th looking a little washed out. Apart from the fact that Landeau seems to be wearing something that was left in a department store after a prom shopping rush, her makeup was too pink and her hair a little too messy. (Getty photo)

  • BEST: Garcelle Beauvais

Actress Garcelle Beauvais looked super chic at the 11th annual InStyle Summer Soiree in West Hollywood on August 8th. We love her one piece pant suit and straightened hair (this woman means business!) which looked absolutely gorge with her dramatic smoky eye and nude lip. Perfect! (Getty photo)

  • WORST: Mena Suvari

The actress looked a little puffy at the 11th Annual InStyle Summer Soire. She wore a textred white dress with white, feather earrings and a very voluminous blow out. We would have liked to see Sorvino try a simple up-do with a bolder lip. (Getty photo)
CORRECTION: This slide previously stated that the actress' name was Mira Sorvino.

  • BEST: Meryl Streep

Never one to make extreme beauty choices, Academy Award winning actress Meryl Streep looked simple and elegant at the New York City premiere of "Hope Springs" on August 6th. Many actresses her age like to lay on the foundation, causing it to cake and make lines and wrinkles more visible. Streep, however, looks natural and just plain great! (Getty photo)

  • WORST: Jennifer Lawrence

The young starlet looked a little wind-swept at the Hollywood Foreign Press Association's 2012 Installation Luncheon on August 9th. Lawrence, who's been sporting some revealing outfits lately, opted for a beachy long 'do and simple makeup and...we just don't think it worked. Her bangs looked oily and a little sloppy. We would have liked the actress to go with a brighter look that exuded youth and brilliance, rather than 'tired surfer.' (Getty photo)

  • BEST: Malin Akerman

Malin Akerman looked stunning at the 11th Annual InStyle Summer Soire. The actress graced the red carpet in a sexy orange dress and simple but vixen-y makeup. Having small eyes, the actress opted for a cat-like smokey eye that elongated the sides of her lids and gave her that smoldering look. Well done Malin! (Getty photo)

  • WORST: Ashley Tisdale

Braids are totally in right now, but Ashley Tisdale took the trend a little too far at the 11th annual InStyle Summer Soire. We don't like the straight hair and textured braid combo...we just don't. (Getty photo)
