PHOTOS: How Helen Gurley Brown's Timeless Style Will Have A Lasting Impact

Throughout her influential life, Helen Gurley Brown was known for pioneering a sexually-empowered lifestyle (think: Joan Holloway from "Mad Men"). And while the beloved former editor of Cosmopolitan showed women a new way to think, she also demonstrated the perfect style to go with her feminine outlook.

Brown died today at the age of 90, but her fearless fashion sense had a profound effect on the millions of women who read her books and magazine. Her bold choices -- statement jewelry, bright geometric patterns and red lipstick -- served as visual representations of her philosophy and managed to carry her throughout her successful career.

The editor once said: "Nearly every glamorous, wealthy, successful career woman you might envy now started out as some kind of schlepp." While we can't imagine her ever looking less than perfect, we're sure Brown's enduring style will continue to inspire women.

In honor of Helen Gurley Brown's death, we take a look back at her timeless style.
