Kristin Chenoweth Departing 'The Good Wife'

The Emmy-winning actress booked a recurring role on the series as a political reporter, but is leaving the series due to an injury she suffered on set in July.

"It is with deep regret to inform everyone that due to my injuries, I am unable to return to 'The Good Wife,'" Chenoweth told People in a statement. "[I'm] getting better slowly, and thank you everyone for your concern."

Chenoweth was already filming the series when she was hit in the head by scaffolding on set. The actress will reportedly appear in the Season 4 premiere airing Sun., Sept. 30 at 9 p.m. ET.

"We enjoyed having Kristin on the show and would love to have her back when she's feeling better," CBS Television Studios said in a statement.

Chenoweth's role on the hit CBS drama was announced in late June 2012 and the actress tweeted excitedly from set.

Following her injury in July 2012, Chenoweth took to Twitter to thank her fans and "The Good Wife" cast.
