Rebecca Weiss Missing: Marina Del Rey Resident Disappears After Free-Diving (VIDEO)

MISSING: Marina Del Rey Woman Gone After Free-Diving

The search continues for Rebecca Weiss, a Marina Del Rey, Calif. woman who went missing Saturday after free-diving near the Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes.

When Weiss didn't return home Saturday evening, her husband became concerned. He drove out to the area where they usually free-dive and found her things on the beach. Her car was also parked nearby. Weiss, however, was nowhere to be found.

Sheriff's deputies responded arrived on the scene Saturday evening, and the next morning rescue divers from LASD and the LA county fire department/lifeguard dive division plunged into the water to search for Weiss. Rescuers turned up nothing.

Shareen Ghabrial, a nearby resident, told Marina Del Rey Patch that investigators described Weiss as a very experienced snorkeler.

Ghabrial described the search, saying, "Our homes here were fully illuminated by the helicopters and the frantic sounds of the workers in their boats directly below us. It was very busy here and very intense."

Weiss is a 50-year-old Asian woman with black hair and brown eyes. She stands five-foot-five and weighs 115 pounds. She was last seen leaving her home on Marina Pointe Drive, Marina Del Rey wearing a wet suit. She drove away in her black 2006 BMX X5, and her license plate is 5UEJ690.
